Thought-provoking...

...read over at Owlhaven.

No, I haven't linked to Mary, mom to many. But her blog is worth a quick post here.

Mary has 8 children, 4 of whom are adopted from Ethiopia. She lives in a big house on a hill surrounded by a huge garden, and, of course, owls.

Her regular posts are filled with fun anecdotes about her children and their life. She is real, normal, and very blessed.

This month she has named 30 days of nothing. She has vowed to buy only the necessities, no clothes, treats, or books, for 30 days. She has even done extra projects like have her children wash clothes by hand, and one day all they had was rice (and apples or veggies) all day long. All of this to help get them in touch with what it is like for many many others in our world.

In the meantime, she has saved oodles of money. Her monthly grocery bill is usually around $700, (remember, they have a big garden!) and I think last count, she had only spent a bit over $150. And she is almost half-way through the month.

Amazing, huh?

Go check out her daily status and many other fun stories she has to share!
