Please Pray...

... for the Goodrich family, alumni of my alma mater, whose 2 year old was killed in a hit-and-run yesterday afternoon.

Little Charles was the 4th out of 5 children, the only boy. Pray for strength, especially for Glen, his Dad.

Thank you,

Without Batting an Eyelash

Upon hearing that her chore for the afternoon was to pick up the toys in her room, Little Boo erupts:

Mo-o-o-o-o-m! I wanna do HARD work, like MOW the LAWN...

...so I can earn a DOLLAR...

...so I can buy a GUN!

Playing Along...

With Elizabeth, via Dawn, who linked back to Peggy. What beautiful blogs to peruse this morning!

Outside my window... a very muggy pre-thunderstorm Texas morning.

I am thinking... and praying that the tutoring session Action Man has just left for will help his dysgraphia and dyscalcula, which has reared it's ugly head more often these days, necessitating this intervention.

I am thankful for... my husband. And if he wasn't so darn modest, I'd launch into a long, loving dissertation.

From the kitchen... an oven that is covered in easy-off, and a list of things to bake. We have a bunch of starving, sleep-deprived, finals-weary college kids coming for a bbq on Thursday. I love these guys and want everything to be perfectly yummy.

I am wearing... my pj's.

I am creating... a blog post, of course! (sorry, I couldn't resist)

I am going... to pick up Action Man at 11am, and then after having lunch at home, drive the kids to their homeschool gym class, put on by our rec center for free. I love my town.

I am reading... Witness, by Whittaker Chambers. Yes, still.

I am hoping... to get a lot of cleaning done, and a few batches of bread dough made.

I am hearing... the kids chatter as they eat breakfast. A friendly chatter, thus far.

Around the house... mostly de-cluttered. A bit of surface clean needed for this weekend. And the bedsheets need to be changed.

One of my favorite things... Little Love's curls. They are delicious.

A few plans for the rest of the week... family and parties. My favorite combination.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing...

OK, Now YOU Can Hear It

I was able to find a few songs from BNL's new kids' album.

The first 4 songs on the playlist there on the right are from Snacktime!

What's sad is that we've had the cd for less than a week, and my children know those songs by heart.

Um. And so do I.

It's Me, I know It

We have a humongous house-warming bash over here today.

As I was getting out of my chocolate and egg roll splattered clothes, I glanced out the window and saw HAIL pounding the ground.

WHAAA??

DH dashed outside and brought the patio chair cushions inside, while I checked the weather.

We are under a tornado watch tonight until 9pm.

Guess I should have cleaned out the tornado closet as well, eh?

Mean Mama?

Does anyone else urgently call their DH at work to insist that he pick up a yummy dessert on his way home just so a certain someone (in our case, Little Dear) can feel the full effects of a "no dessert" punishment?

Yes.

I thought so.

When asking....

your 5 year old what time it is when she comes bouncing into your bed early one morning, and she triumphantly pronouces that it is:

7:55!!

It may behoove you to remember that this is the child who does not have a very firm grasp of those tricky numbers like 5 and 2 and tends to get them mixed up.

Just sayin'.
:)

Wishing....

I could write a coherent review of this cd.

It's not that we don't own it. Even though it came out the day before yesterday, we did carve out a special gas-guzzling trip manage to stop at our local music store and pick up a copy.

You know by now that we are rabid fans.

:)

I'd love to do a review for y'all. It's just that I can't find the darn cd.

I know it's here in the house.

I hear it blasting from all rooms at various yet slightly inconvenient times.

I hear my 10 year old singing the sometimes silly yet extremely clever lyrics as he be-bops around the house, cd jacket in hand.

I hear it.

And yet I can't get my hands on it.

Guess that's the best kind of review for a kids cd, eh?

More Proof

That I am aging rapidly.

Since we have invited approximately 80 gazillion friends over for a house warming party this weekend, with another bbq for my sister and her college friends the following Thursday, culminating in a weekend visit from my parents and other little sister, the kids and I have been cleaning and de-cluttering like mad.

And so, I threw my back out this morning.

Was it the diving under the couches, the dragging of the still-unpacked boxes into the garage, or the reaching and swatting of those stubborn dust bunnies?

None of these.

Instead, apparently the stress of lifting a spoonful of Cheerios to my mouth was way too much for my back this morning.

And so I sit... twitching and moaning while drool accumulates at the corners of my mouth as the muscle relaxant takes effect.

This is the worst kind of penance for me. A list of chores a mile long, a billion projects to be done in three days, and I. can't. move.

Someone has a lot of graces heading their way today. And they better be grateful for it, darn it.

Consider Yourself Warned

You might want to consider the table manners of your 10 year old boy before asking him to tear up the lettuce for that night's dinner salad into bite sized pieces.

If you don't, you will be surprised to find that his interpretation of bite-sized would do nicely for an herbivore.... like the over-sized brontosaurus.
